So the Mercedes has finally started coming along. I basically just got into it the other weekend. Interior is stripped and I have my engine and transmission. Hopefully next weekend I'll start the angle mod on the knuckles (more turning radius to drift at more max angle).

I also have a build thread you can follow on the car at 190rev

I'll be going to a drift event we're hosting at PPIR this Sunday. Anyone is welcome to come spectate, however this is more a drivers event, so if you have a car to drift, just go to the Triple Crown site to register.

New Beginnings

Got a couple new things to update actually. Some big news to start, I am now officially part of Triple Crown Drift. I am extremely happy to be a part of the family and the team. I will be doing my best to help them where I can, and to help everyone accomplish their dreams together. Next year with Triple Crown, I will be able to travel with them and compete in various events. As well I hope to get an opportunity to get Formula D licensed with them. But first I need to build a new drift car hahaha.

Which brings me to my next update. The Camaro is now gone and recycled, and has been replaced with a 1987 Mercedes 190. The Mercedes is completely stock for now, but this car will be fully built to Formula D specs. I am very excited to build this, as it will be the first car I've rebuilt from the ground up the way I want it.

My girlfriend Ashlee actually had an amazing opportunity as well. She has been making taxidermy plushes lately (for which there is no real market), and her boss decided to make them a new line of business at Artworks Taxidermy. She gets credited for the idea, and I have to say she's very excited to have made something so awesome. She has always done amazing work, but in addition to her quality of work, this is something very creative that no other taxidermist does.

I'll try and get some pictures this weekend to update again.

PPIR Drift Event

So I finished up a drift event at PPIR (Pikes Peak International Raceway) on the 16th. It was freaken HOT! But it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about my Camaro. I installed some new control arms before the event, and it definitely made the car drift more predictably. But it still needs a differential that works and rear brakes (doesn't stop very well with no rear brakes hahaha!). But I honestly think I'm going to be putting the Camaro engine in something different. We shall see what happens, but whatever happens it's going to be way awesome!

Here's just one of the practice runs I did before the competition that day.

Got a Job and Car

So great news! I recently got a job in the DTC working for Wayne Enterprises. Essentially I test computer code for fuel dispensers. It's definitely a cool job, the people are great, I'm learning a new industry, and their way of coding is fun. The code uses a lot of Hex coding, so learning how they use it is a new challenge for me. I'm used to working in the computer antivirus field doing QA and virus removals, so this is a change of pace for me.

As far as my car, it came at just the right time. I literally got it on a Saturday, registered it on Monday then started my new job a Tuesday. The car is a 95 Nissan 240sx, that runs well, but has a number of issues lol. I will be trying to get as much fixed on the car before the winter comes, but we'll see what I can do.

This is actually my second s14. My first one was a drift car that turned into the biggest mess ever. Hopefully this car goes smoothly for me (fingers crossed).

Some Life Thoughts From a Random Old Guy

"No matter what you do -- get married or stay single, buy the house or travel the world, work for a corporation or start your own business -- there will be good points and bad points.

"It's up to you to decide which to focus on, the good or the bad. You can get married, and in 50 years smile in satisfaction at the positives: maybe you took your kids camping every summer, and now you're building a tree fort with your granddaughter; your awesome brother-in-law helped you build a back deck; you've got a wife who still likes to sit with you out there and listen to your old stories that make everyone else roll their eyes. Or you can focus on the negatives -- maybe if you hadn't had to pay for the braces and the hockey equipment and the piano lessons you could have bought that 100-inch TV and the Porsche; your mother-in-law drives you crazy; you're tied down to all these people and would rather be free and on your own.

"But the exact same is true of staying single: you could delight in all the positive aspects, like the freedom to do what you want, spend your money they way you want to. move to a different state or country without feeling tied down, playing video games naked all day. Or you could become bitter over feeling alone, begrudge the families in the park that eye you with suspicion as a potential pedophile, and feel a pang of jealousy when your co-worker talks about his little-league-champ son.

"It really doesn't matter which one you choose; what matters is what you're going to do about it -- be happy about the positives, or regret the negatives."

The above was from a random older gentlemen, but I can't remember where I got this from lol. But I did just want to add some additional thoughts of mine.

In a relationship, the two need to work together to stay positive and up lift each other. If one person is always bringing about the negative, then it will really dampen any relationship, and it can lead to a break up or divorce. I'm sure we all have been guilty of continually being negative to people we love at some point(I know I have). But I hope this post helps people to concentrate on the positive, and no matter what the situation, always try to improve yourself so nothing happens in vain. Remember that no matter what you do, they're going to be people who say that you were wrong and will make you doubt yourself when you're down.

Long Introduction Post

Well, here is my first post. I would like first describe what this blog is about. I basically just wanted a place where I could publicly type out my own opinions on life, and type my personal experiences. So of course a blog is the perfect tool for doing so. However, do keep in mind that I will only be updating this blog a couple times a month.

So shall we begin? I will start off describing my current situation. At the moment I am unemployed and shamefully living off my girlfriend. I am only being able to help her out with what I can daily. I had enough savings to pay my half of rent, utilities, and food, but now that money is all gone as of this month. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do for bills this coming month, but in all honesty I am not that worried. I will be selling some more personal possessions to help us float till I get hired hopefully. I've been unemployed since the end of January 2011, and have been applying at numerous jobs weekly. My previous job was at Webroot as an Advanced Malware Removal Analyst. My responsibilities was basically removing viruses remotely for customers around the world. It really wasn't a bad position per say, but I decided to quit when I couldn't take any more of the company in of itself. I was too cocky that I would be able to find a job quickly (usually in the past I would find a job before quitting). But the company had me so stressed out that it was affecting my personal life with my girlfriend, family and friends. The management made me sick to my stomach with their corrupt ways. But anyway, I have been actively seeking jobs in QA, which is where my career experience has been prior to Webroot. But as desperate as I am, I've applied at every retail, convenience, and some fast food places in a 25 mile radius. Still no luck, but I have a feeling a job will come along soon.

Now for my goals. Since I was a child I have always wanted to be a professional driver, just the feeling of pushing myself and a car to it's limit, is one of the most enjoyable things for me to do. I dream to drive almost everything, and experience every style of motor sports there is. As well I aspire to experience all of it on a professional level; such as auto course, road course, circle track, indy cars, rally, drifting, and even stunt driving for venues and films. As a child I was able to experience racing karts in a point series for a couple years, and I did have a good time, till I literally died in an accident lol.

I am currently trying everything I can to be a professional drifter. I have a 1987 Camaro that I traded my Civic for straight across. The car has not had much invested into it as I am jobless. But I am working hard to do everything within my power to make the car and myself ready for upcoming drift events. I have built a number of attempted drift cars thus far, but realized every car I build is essentially starting over for square one. So from now on, every step will be in order to get closer to goals, and while I'm at it to have a good time!

This will be a blog for my efforts, to constantly strive to accomplish my goals. You have to work hard to make your dreams come true. Because good intentions aren't good enough, you have to follow through with what you believe in through your actions. You must make daily strides to change, in order to shape yourself into who you want to be, or what you want to accomplish.
