"No matter what you do -- get married or stay single, buy the house or travel the world, work for a corporation or start your own business -- there will be good points and bad points.
"It's up to you to decide which to focus on, the good or the bad. You can get married, and in 50 years smile in satisfaction at the positives: maybe you took your kids camping every summer, and now you're building a tree fort with your granddaughter; your awesome brother-in-law helped you build a back deck; you've got a wife who still likes to sit with you out there and listen to your old stories that make everyone else roll their eyes. Or you can focus on the negatives -- maybe if you hadn't had to pay for the braces and the hockey equipment and the piano lessons you could have bought that 100-inch TV and the Porsche; your mother-in-law drives you crazy; you're tied down to all these people and would rather be free and on your own.
"But the exact same is true of staying single: you could delight in all the positive aspects, like the freedom to do what you want, spend your money they way you want to. move to a different state or country without feeling tied down, playing video games naked all day. Or you could become bitter over feeling alone, begrudge the families in the park that eye you with suspicion as a potential pedophile, and feel a pang of jealousy when your co-worker talks about his little-league-champ son.
"It really doesn't matter which one you choose; what matters is what you're going to do about it -- be happy about the positives, or regret the negatives."
The above was from a random older gentlemen, but I can't remember where I got this from lol. But I did just want to add some additional thoughts of mine.
In a relationship, the two need to work together to stay positive and up lift each other. If one person is always bringing about the negative, then it will really dampen any relationship, and it can lead to a break up or divorce. I'm sure we all have been guilty of continually being negative to people we love at some point(I know I have). But I hope this post helps people to concentrate on the positive, and no matter what the situation, always try to improve yourself so nothing happens in vain. Remember that no matter what you do, they're going to be people who say that you were wrong and will make you doubt yourself when you're down.
